The Party of Death

Having recently read David Neiwert’s “The Eliminationists,”  I would have naturally been alert to anything from the GOT (Grand Old Teabaggers) that vaguely hinted at, basically, killing everybody they don’t like, but here lately I can’t even keep up with it all.  The process has taken on a thudding, accelerating, warp speed, primed during the Clinton years (back then, racism wasn’t cool yet and they still stuck to groups with white people in them…) with their similar demonization and dehumanization of feminazis, tree-huggers, elites, fags, liberals, and what have you.  Right-wing radio daily  suggested that such vermin ought to be exterminated, or at least the uppity ones, to set an example, thereby making America a better place.  Bush ironically provided something of a respite; the proto-teabaggers knew that they were getting what they wanted from their unelected King, and saw the Potemkin diversity of Bush’s cabinet for what it was, a smattering of supple, compliant careerists that Harry Belafonte correctly called “House Negroes.”  An audible, eight-year sigh of relief was heard across the Bible Belt, except when Bush tried to do something commie like letting Ay-rabs run our ports or Illegals have a path to citizenship.  Dumb as they are, they could see the demographic handwriting on the wall that that sort of thing demonstrated and didn’t like it one bit, but killing them over there, which Bush gladly provided in spades, would have to do while killing them here could wait.

But what a difference a new President makes.  They know, instinctively, that if they were in Obama’s place they would immediately set out to “get Whitey” for ample reason, and they project their authoritarian bloodlust onto him.  They simply can’t comprehend a world where a victorious political party (which is to them more like a barroom brawler) doesn’t immediately upon seizing power set out to, by any means necessary, exact vengeance against its opponents.  Now that Bush had normalized attacks, using everything from spying, jailing, prosecuting, firing, defunding, silencing, etc. all the way up to bombing, torture, and murder, against Muslims here and abroad, peace and environmental groups, Democratic politicians, their own appointees, and even the friggin’ Dixie Chicks, these people now expect a whupping, because they deserve it, according to the trailer park code of justice by which they live.

Today we hear that the Prince of the Teabaggers, Erik by name, who put the “black” in Blackwater, had to off a couple of witnesses who were cooperating with the government in investigations into the wanton illegality we all paid for, and routinely threatened his underlings with violence and death.  Because it’s the Christian thing to do.  Jeremy Scahill reports in The Nation that he also felt it was his moral duty to help rid the world of Muslims.  Scahill didn’t think to ask what he thought about tree-huggers, but he didn’t have to.  Thus, we have the Golden Boy of the best Republican blood in the country, such as it is, openly advocating genocide and mass murder, and the federal government is paying him, quite handsomely, to take a shot at it.  Given that, it’s pretty to see why the teabaggers and birthers are so unhinged.  It’s like Hitler having to go back to housepainting.

Maybe the brave, crusading Obama Justice Department will finally make a single, horrified glance “backward,” and sheepishly bring Prince up on charges of, say,  ”witness tampering,” but I doubt it.  Killing random people you don’t like, that is if you’re an heir to wealth, a right-wing religious nut, and/or a DOD freeloader, just isn’t really that frowned upon anymore.  Prince is all three, and he’s sitting on a lot of taxpayer money to pay for lawyers.  The worst thing that could happen to him is getting beat at golf by OJ.
